Summary

Motivated researcher with a strong interest in structural dynamics, an interest driven by a determination to further understanding of the structural behavior of bridges and civil buildings. Following numerous experimental projects in companies and universities, and experiencing the academic environment, I have developed good problem solving and collaboration skills.

Work History

Visiting Research Scholar

San Diego State University
San Diego
01.2025 - Current

Experimental research project at the National Science Foundation sponsored Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI), Experimental Facility at the University of California San Diego. Project related to CFS-NHERI 10-story Archetype Building Tests. Project objectives:

  • Dynamic identification through MEMS-based accelerometer system during the test step planned;
  • Data driven damage identification from the extracted modal parameters.

Teaching Tutor: Design of Structures M

Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna
Bologna
10.2022 - Current

Second cycle degree program (LM) in Civil Engineering (cod. 0930)

  • Developed introductory lesson on FEM software to be used to carry out the project;
  • Conducted project revision with students;
  • Evaluated projects before the examination;
  • Supported Professors in conducting oral examinations.

Teaching Tutor: Design of Offshore Structures

Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna
Bologna
10.2022 - 10.2024

Second cycle degree program (LM) in Offshore Engineering (cod. 9249)

  • Attended during written examinations.

University Research Fellow

Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna
Bologna
07.2022 - 10.2022

Title Assignment: 'Techniques for the identification of structural element damage from vibration measurements'.

  • Following the analysis of the state of the art on the subject, experimental activities were carried out on structural elements, these was be equipped with instruments for measuring vibrations and was damaged, combining different modes of damage and different intensities of the same.
  • The data collected were analysed using techniques operating in the time and frequency domains to understand which allows for better identification of the damage.

Trainee - Master's Thesis Internship

Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna
Bologna
10.2021 - 04.2022

Experimental internship aimed at writing the master's thesis.

  • Through investigations conducted in the LISG laboratory at the University of Bologna, the dynamic characteristics of a simply supported metal beam were identified experimentally by accelerometers and then used to identify the change in stiffness induced on it.
  • Experimental investigations supported by modeling using Straus7 finite element software to simulate the laboratory tests.

Trainee - Undergraduate Internship

Eng. Silvia Spacca
Perugia
09.2020 - 04.2021

Curricular internship at a design firm during master's program:

  • Textural and cracking survey support of existing earthquake-damaged buildings;
  • Graphic planning and design aimed to renovation and seismic improvement of existing buildings;
